Diversity Camp
Thoughts from athlete
Brianna McCullough
Thoughts from athlete Colleen
Bernal
USA Swimming, along with Midwestern Swimming, Indiana Swimming and
Illinois Swimming hosted the first national Diversity Select Camp. The
camp was aimed at developing fast swimmers and future leaders in an
effort to diversify our great sport. We are excited to announce that
the Central Zone was chosen to pilot this Diversity Zone Select Camp
in 2010. We are proud to announce that
Colleen Bernal from GOAL, and
Brianna McCullough from MONARCH were selected to represent MWS
at this Camp. The goal of the camp was to have athletes set goals for
themselves to help move forward with Diversity in the Sport of
Swimming in their own LSCs. Colleen and Brianna spent many hours in
the pool training, along with numerous classrooms hours, networking
with 28 other swimmers from the Central Zone. You will hopefully see
more of both of these ladies as they get the word out about our great
Sport.

Parents Information
When you are
attending a meet without your coach, you should understand MW policy.
-
Only USA Swimming registered
coaches are to appear on deck in a coaching capacity or sign in on the
Coach's Sign-In Sheet.
-
Upon arriving at the
swim meet the athlete or the adult accompanying the athlete must report
to the meet referee. The referee is to be informed that the athlete is
entered in the meet and is without benefit of a coach. The referee will
then see that the athlete is assigned a coach for the meet. The
accompanying adult should leave the deck immediately.
